Through a discussion of your lifestyle, medical history, and family history, your practitioner can help determine how to reduce your risk of illness later in life.

Skin Cancer Detection

Frequent skin checks can help your doctor detect skin cancer as soon as possible. Even if you don’t spend much time in the sun, it’s never too early to get checked. Your doctor can conduct a professional skin check, examining all moles and freckles to help you protect your ongoing health.

Iron Infusion

Iron deficiency may cause lethargy, tiredness and lack of energy. Iron infusions can help relieve iron deficiency and can be extremely beneficial for patients who have experienced difficulties taking iron orally. Administered by an experienced doctor, the treatment involves an intravenous injection of iron mixed with saline, delivered via a drip. A process that takes approximately 30 minutes, iron infusions are a non-invasive and simple way to manage iron deficiency.

Telehealth

The consulting doctors want to ensure that all of their patients have access to quality medical care even if they are unable to attend an in-person consultation. To facilitate this, telehealth consultations will be available for all patients who have visited a doctor consulting from Heidelberg West Medical for a face-to-face consult in the last 12 months. To protect patients, doctors and practice staff, face-to-face appointments may not be available for patients experiencing Covid-19 related symptoms until it is determined safe to attend via a telehealth consult.

When booking a telehealth consult with a consulting doctor, please confirm that the phone number you have given is correct. Your doctor requests that you be accessible via phone at least 5 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. Please note that consultation times may vary depending on individual healthcare needs and circumstances.

A consulting doctor may run late due to delayed consultation times, sometimes by 30 minutes or even more. For this reason, your doctor requests that you remain accessible by phone for at least 30 minutes after your scheduled consultation time. When your appointment is due to commence, your doctor will try and call you twice. If your doctor cannot reach you, you will have to reschedule your appointment.

Referrals, prescriptions, or pathology requests can be picked up from reception during business hours. Please see our website for the opening hours of the pathology, pharmacy and allied health providers operating from our locations.

For any further questions or details about telehealth services, please phone reception during business hours.

Please be aware that Medicare guidelines prevent doctors from providing telehealth services to patients who are overseas. If your consulting doctor determines that you are overseas during your consultation, your consultation will not proceed further.
